AYSO is run entirely by volunteers. That's right - each member of our board, coaches, referees, team parents - they are all volunteers! We would love to have you join our volunteer team! Volunteer registration is open now! Simply sign up to be a coach when you register your child. You can also send an email to [email protected] and let us know how you would like to help. We appreciate all of our volunteers!
AYSO 1020 James Lilly Reward Program
AYSO is the world's biggest soccer club and our community of Pinetop-Lakeside is excited to be part of a program that focuses on providing quality soccer programs that enrich children's lives.
Our AYSO region is entirely run by volunteers - our volunteer board, our volunteer coaches, and our volunteer referees. We want quality instruction for our youth to make our program the best it can be.
Because of our need for amazing volunteer coaches, we are excited to announce the AYSO 1020 James Lilly Reward Program to offer discounted prices for the season to our coaching parents.
AYSO 1020 has had amazing coaches in the past. One of these coaches was James Lilly. James, a loving husband and father of four daughters, was an active member of the Pinetop-Lakeside community. He was a heath care provider at Whiteriver Service Unit. Outside of his career, he devoted a lot of his time to working with youth, both in his church and, during fall months, coaching for AYSO 1020. James continued to coach his daughters’ soccer teams even after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He came each week prepared to share his knowledge, always with a smile on his face. Players and parents alike were inspired by James’ outlook of “Gods’ Got This” and his philosophy to take every opportunity to live life to its fullest. We are honored to dedicate the reward program in James’ name.
The Region 1020 Reward program is in the form of a $25 Rebate.
In order to take advantage of the reward program, a volunteer coach must meet the following criteria:
1. Coach must be registered as a volunteer and the player must be registered and paid through the AYSO website by TBD
2. All coaches must attend a total of 2 hours of training.
a. One hour will be the mandatory coaches meeting just before the beginning of the season.
b. The second hour can be either one of several hands on trainings offered throughout the summer months, or an online training.
c. We, as board members, highly encourage coaches to take the online or in person referee training course. It is a fantastic way to learn rules of soccer.
3. All coaches must do their best to hold consistent practices and conduct themselves in accordance with the AYSO philosophies during practices and games.
When all criteria are met by a coach, they will receive a rebate of $25.00 in form of a check *Only one $25 rebate per individual, however, more than one parent per household may coach a separate team and receive a separate rebate for a different child.
The AYSO Board understands there are many reasons people feel they can’t help. Sometimes it is your lack of soccer knowledge that makes you feel unqualified; we can train you and give you instruction to help you succeed. Sometimes it is because of your inflexible schedule; you are already having to get your child to practice. If you are the coach, you set the time of practice that works for you rather than being told when you have to be there. Sometimes it is just that you feel too busy; what better way to spend your time than with your child learning a skill that they love.
We hope that some of the above points, as well as a rebate for your child’s soccer registration, will encourage you to be an active part of our AYSO 1020 community as James Lilly did. Help us make our program the best that it has ever been!
Safety is of the utmost concern for our players. With this in mind, during any practice at the first sound of thunder or sighting of lighting, players and coach should clear the field and seek cover until 30 minutes as passed with no lightning or thunder.
On Saturdays the RC and Referees will be monitoring the weather and will announce any game delays or cancellations of play.
